I'm hearin ya. My Stevens 52 sports an original Soule sight.  Hmmmmm...... Huh
Maybe my rifle with the sight is worth 22500.00. Well it must be!

And not a rare straight grip stocked Rigby either! It wouldn't be quite so overpriced if it was the early straight grip, but as a pistol grip common Rigby it's stupid priced.

Note that it's taken 16 bids to get to that $1041.00.  So barring shills, at least two real bidders strongly think it's a period original.  As the saying goes, it takes all kinds.

So if it is marked with that patent number which was issued in August of 1889 and expired in August 1906, would that make a difference? Looked at the listing and see that it was marked patent applied for . Ad says if was announced in 1888 so a chance that it was made in 1888 (marked "82" so it they were serialized, may be.)

Timing is everything.  An original sold about a year ago that was in a lot nicer shape than this one for about the same price as today's knock-offs.
