I am sure that similar posts have probably been asked before, but i am looking to make a batch of bullet lube for cast bullet, black powder cartridge loads. I am asking for input on your favorite lube recipes. I know there are allot of options, just doing some research to see what everyone has to say there favorite is.    thank you. Smiley

Where might you live I no longer shoot but I do have what one might need to make some Dell 59C.
Some of those ingredients also can no longer now be purchased.
Such as Spermicide and Lead Stearate.
I also have used it for several years with great success.

Thanks I was hoping you lived allot closer.
I am not confident in trying to ship these days.
It might unfortunately now be determined to be some type of a destructive and extremely hazardous material some how now by Joe Biden's current administration.

Lots of recipes here. From the sticky section right above your post. Mostly smokeless recipes but a few black powder ones also.

Spermaceti is a waxy substance found in the head cavities of the sperm whale.  Illegal to sell now.

I believe the oil is Spermacetti, from sperm whales.
Not kidding
There is a synthesized oil sold by NAPA - Valve and assembly lube.
I use it in my recipe for Emmerts/Emmertini's lube:
50% by weight  yellow beeswax
40% unsalted Crisco solid shortening
10% canolla(Emmerts) or Olive Oil (Emmertini)
melt the beeswax gently in a double boiler pot,
stir in the Crisco and Oil.

Then you can, if you want , add 10% by weight to the above
of the NAPA Lube Gard
Worked very well for me in my BPCR loading when I was using Grease Groove bullets, until I left the "greasy kid stuff" and went to Paper Patch bullets

Alberta Schuetzen Guild Lube

An enhancement of one of Charlie Dell's recipe.

Viscose enough for -40 F and will not slough off at extreme warm temperatures.

Used to win Nationals and set records in the Schuetzen game.

Contains extra ingredients to increase stickiness, has a critical viscosity for multi temperature use, has excellent lubricity, has an emulsifier included for excellent cleaning of fouling and does not need saponification to occur and has metal conditioners to prevent leading.

Also an excellent lube for grease groove bullet BP shooting as well.

Additional stickiness and lubricity ingredients plus a metal conditioner have been added to Charlie Dell's recipe and the emulsifier has been changed.

Charlie's recipe would have the emulsifier fall out of suspension if you pan lubed.

The newest version of Alberta Schuetzen Lube can be melted again for pan lubing.

JLouis I never heard of Del59C. What is all in it besides the spermacide?  Sounds interesting.

My lube is 50% beeswax, 40% Crisco, and 10% Vaseline, all by volume, not weight.

The beeswax used in Alberta Schuetzen Lube is the highly filtered pharmaceutical wax made from charcoal filtering.
No embedded honey or pollens or bug parts to caramalize at high temperatures.

RAM it contains spermaceti, lead sterate, anhydrous lanolin, castor oil, ivery soap beads and pure beeswax and I don't think I am leaving anything out off of the top of my head.
