Servicing Lyman Sights

Im looking to be connected to someone who services Lyman sights.  I have a couple 103s that need attention.  Both are in like new condition but the windage is frozen on one.  I'm going to try soaking it in Kroil as it just might be stuck from decades of solidified oil but if that doesnt work then I'm not really comfortable fiddling with the mechanism on my own.  The other looks to be missing something in the elevation staff as it doesnt seem to fully lock into position.  Thanks much for your help

This same question was asked just a few days ago. Check the replies poorhouse got there. It's just below your post in this section.

Have Kroll soaked as many as 5 overnights on stuck parts. Harder it is to replace a part longer you need to let it work.  Last week stuck recoil spring cap in a Gas operated shotgun Kroll would not loosen overnight. Tiny wrench flat on the part. Removed it with with vice grips ruining the thread, replacing with a new one. New cap cost 12.95 3 day delivery to my door.

Lyman staff I would have been much more patient. Nearly impossible to buy the part & 95% chance it’s stuck with old lube.

You might try the home made penetrating fluid:
50% acetone/50% Dextron ATF fluid
Works as well or better than most store-bought products.
I recently freed up a"1941 vintage" Unertl 1" scope adjustable objective mechanism and also its ring clamping screws with soaking .
Also a Parker Hale front sight, that had frozen clamp screw

When using the ATF/acetone mix be sure it's in a container with a lid you can screw on! The acetone will evaporate off quickly leaving just ATF if you don't cover it.

I used Blaster on my Lyman sight & it got the lube broken done so it could be moved.

While I’ve made and used the home made penetrating oil, I’ve been impressed with the results using PB Blaster, along with the convenience of it being in a spray can.

Thanks everyone.  I just got around to catching up with my post.  One sight will get the Kroil treatment.  And I'll try some of those other recipes if the Kroil doesn't deliver.
