It Happenrd on 5th Avenue

I watched this 1947 holiday classic for the first time from start to finished today. It takes place in a wealthy millionaires 5th ave townhouse. In one scene they are in the trophy room and there hanging on the wall above a large gun rack is a schuetzen rifle. I believe it's a Ballard. I will be waiting for this movie next year just to see the rifle! And if you want too know it's a great movie too. Have a happy and healthy New Year.

Happy New Year! As someone who likes old guns and old movies, your description of the movie made it sound like a movie that I had to see and have in my dvd collection. Thanks, I just ordered a copy.

OK, if you put the DVD through your computer you can do a screen capture of the best frame showing the rifle.  Of course doing that would save the rest of us having to watch a seasonal movie out of season if you would be kind enough to post it.   Roll Eyes Please and thank you.  Wink

Have never posted a picture here so thought I’d give it a try.  Not real high resolution but it looks like a Ballard schuetzen rifle.

Until I looked this up, I’d never heard of Gale Storm (in the photo with back turned).  Next Christmas I’ll see if I can find this movie streaming on one of the channels.

Well, old vark has come up with the picture.
Gale Storm, the star of My Little Margie, a tv show in the 1950’s.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Appears to be a Ballard #6 Schuetzen. Pretty cool!
I remember Gale Storm from My Little Margie in the 1950's. I was a kid then, but my parents watched it all the time.

yes, Margie and her dad Vern Albright.
I remember the name of the neighbor, across the hall, do you?
Looks like a Ballard to me too.

I’ve seen the movie often over the years but either missed that scene or forgotten it.

Ms. Storm best talent was actually singing, which she did in a her first few films and later in her two tv shows.  In fact she had several records in the late 1950s/early 1960's that did very well commercially.

Strangely enough, however, and very unnecessarily, her singing in It Happened on 5th Avenue was dubbed.

The kid in 'Margie' is a favorite of mine, but not because of the tv show.
He's Tommy Ivo, and was a well-known drag racer while still on the show. Later, he became one of the first touring professionals and used his showmanship in several ways to promote his appearances at drag strips around the country. Saw him numerous times and enjoyed him. Still around and full of piss 'n' vinegar. A drag racing pioneer and super star. Google him if ya like.

I enjoyed My Little Margie and the Gale Storm Show back then. Right up there with Sky King. I had a thing for Penny;-)

Pat,
TV Tommy Ivo, multi enginned nailheads with reverse heads that ran the exhaust through the former intake valves.

Been to a couple of BilletProof shows at Don Garlits place, he's still full of piss and vinegar too.
