	Anybody have any knowledge or experience with Varner Sporting Arms? They made Stevens copies in Marietta Georgia for a couple years in the mid 1980s. Any info appreciated.

	High quality and expensive when they came out. Extremely well made. Wanted one at the time but couldn’t justify the expense. Wish I had. The last time I saw one on the market it was crazy expensive. There were basic and deluxe models.

	Thanks, Slumlord Do you know any particulars? Did they make their own barrels, etc? I'm not finding much on the internet.

	No idea who made their barrels. They were supposed to be very accurate though.

	The tang sight is a slightly modified version of the one Snooky Williams sold. It's still being marketed, under a different name. Not a great sight. Aaron

	I have one I bought in the '80s. fun rifle to shoot. High quality rifle. Good for plinking, I've punched a lot of holes in tin cans over the years with this rifle. Reasonably accurate for a small "BOY's" .22LR rifle. I have enjoyed years of good service form this rifle.

	Randy, I'm curious about your description of these being a "small boys rifle".

	I sold mine a year ago.it was very accurate but like Randy says kinda a boys rifle in size. mine wasn't a particularly fine finished gun but wasn't rough.Better than the modern Savage 72 Crackshots though.

	Interesting. I was under the impression that they were copies of a Stevens Favorite, but then, I don't know much about the Stevens either. We're they kind of small as well?

We're they kind of small as well? it was the same size as the Favorite IIRC. I have an H&A 922 with custom heavy barrel I preferred is the only reason i sold the Varner. C Sharps made a modern 922 replica .They hooked me up with some new internal parts that fit my original.

	The one listed on gunbroker has a plum colored receiver, not very attractive imo.

	406shooter My apology for taking so long to answer your question. My Varner Favorite's length of pull is 13" with a 21 1/2" barrel. The rifle is sort of like a mini Stevens 44. The action is about 2/3 the size of a 44. The photo below (just a quickie photo) shows the level of workmanship. This is the condition in which I received the rifle from the dealer when I bought it new.
