I had one of these I gave to my son in law for his birthday. I just use .45-70 cases shortened, and a larger bullet. I think his takes a .459" for proper fit. I used .45-70 dies also.

I have some original brass that came with my rifle. I always assumed it was 11.7X51R. Never used them because boxer primers do not fit.

I load same as marlinguy.

I use formed 348 Winchester brass from Buffalo arms It has the correct diameter at the head. 45-70 comes out of the chamber looking like a pregnant guppie at the head. . 462405 HB bullet from Buffalo arms shoots great.

If I planned on using the Danish a lot, that's what I'd do also. Last musket match I used the Danish in was in the mid nineties, and then it was about 20-30 shots for score per year.  Also would fix the horrendous trigger pull. Mine is so bad the hammer rises as the trigger is pulled.

.045" piano wire makes a better trigger return spring, and lightens the pull a lot. But sounds like your full cock notch is messed up to Joe if it's raising the hammer!

If the hammer rises when pulling the trigger, the sear notch angle is wrong and should be corrected. As shown above, a piano wire trigger spring can also be a big help.  I make lighter trigger springs from a hack saw blade - they work great. Here is a short video I made about it.

The rifle is original. I'll not be changing anything.

If I wanted to lighten the trigger I'd use a flat spring like the originals.

And, I could put bushings in those original cases to fit boxer primers.

But I'm not going to. I don't wanna...

I load like marlinguy only I pc'ed the bullets up to .460.  Shot OK but haven't shot it a lot.

Only reason I bought the rifle (besides liking rollers) is the "cheap" ammo.
