I don't own a single shot rifle yet but I'm seriously considering ordering up a C Sharps 1885 low wall in 22lr and messing around with the 22BPCR game. I'm calling it a long overdue retirement present,  since I didn't get a gold Rolex! There is BPCR in my area but they haven't yet invested in the 22lr side of things. Still, I can mess around with it on my own and maybe interest will grow.
Of course, I'm open to any and all suggestions or comments as I sit here, sipping a whiskey, waiting for the next heavy dose of winter that is in our forecast.
Glad to be on board!

Welcome to the lunacy. Glad ta have ya!
While you're sitting there sippin' and waiting for winter to pass look around and see where the new safe is going to get placed. After you shoot that new .22 for a while, you'll automatically want one in .38-55  or bigger. Then, it's gonna be a .32-40. Later, .... well, maybe a bigger safe. Merry Christmas.

Welcome, but be forewarned that single shots are like potato chips or peanuts. You won't be happy with just one.

Welcome, there are lots of good folks here with plenty of good information and knowledge to share.

But be forewarned, there are many enablers here that will have you buying all kinds of single shot rifles.

You have to have "at least" one Ballard...... Grin

Well, I would be remiss if I failed to say welcome to the neighborhood, since I'm in your neighborhood already.

welcome aboard!  The passion here runs deep and we'll do a lot to  help you.

Like they all have said, it is an addiction.  I believe it was Jerry that mentioned to me once, "if you ever do find a cure for this addiction, please don't tell me what it is".   Smiley

The 22's are a great start.

Welcome. I have been a member of this forum for more than a few years and am amazed at the combined knowledge of this group and
their willingness to share.  Being a former NW MT citizen I can attest that you live in a hotbed of excellent gunsmiths, shooters and  serious gun cranks. The Deep Creek guys, Missoula, are serious shooters and highly skilled. I for one would look to be joining and shooting with this group to advance your knowledge and shooting skills.

Welcome aboard.
Jerry's right, you'll need at least one Ballard.

HI and welcome. You are going to enjoy the .22 bpcr game. A .22 is a great start and can lead to a lot of fun and a lot of surprises.  Since you are of post retirement age you may want to look into putting a scope of your rifle.  Something else to look into while awaiting your new arrival is what all brands of ammo are available to you locally. It wouldn't hurt to pick up a box each kind of standard velocity  ammo you can find and then look online for some of the better grade of ammo and pick up some of that. The .22 can be a bit on the picky side as to what shoots best in it.
I have a single shot .22 built on a martini action. I was very surprised to see how well it shot with good ammo. I never considered it a target grade rifle, it was my squirrel gun. To my surprise I shot groups under an inch at 100 yds with good ammo, and about 3" at 200.
You will definitely enjoy shooting the steel animals.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Welcome to the ASSRA forum!
As others have mentioned, single shot rifles are addicting! When I bought my first Ballard decades ago I had probably 150 pre WWI Marlin leverguns, and over the years since I'm down to a half dozen. The rest sold to feed my addiction for more single shots. They're probably the first firearm that's caused such a serious lust for me.

Or maybe you won't be happy with just 15 or 20 of 'em Smiley

Welcome from another newbie.  Early on I spent many pleasurable hours reading through past postings, that with a tumbler full of good Whiskey is my idea of how to pass winter evenings.  Lots of knowledge freely shared by the members.

Joining ASSRA also nets you a very high quality publication delivered and supports a great organization.   Also, the quality of their t-shirts are excellent….smile.  Cheers.
