I don't own a single shot rifle yet but I'm seriously considering ordering up a C Sharps 1885 low wall in 22lr and messing around with the 22BPCR game. I'm calling it a long overdue retirement present,  since I didn't get a gold Rolex! There is BPCR in my area but they haven't yet invested in the 22lr side of things. Still, I can mess around with it on my own and maybe interest will grow.
Of course, I'm open to any and all suggestions or comments as I sit here, sipping a whiskey, waiting for the next heavy dose of winter that is in our forecast.

Welcome. I have been a member of this forum for more than a few years and am amazed at the combined knowledge of this group and 
their willingness to share.  Being a former NW MT citizen I can attest that you live in a hotbed of excellent gunsmiths, shooters and  serious gun cranks. The Deep Creek guys, Missoula, are serious shooters and highly skilled. I for one would look to be joining and shooting with this group to advance your knowledge and shooting skills.

HI and welcome. You are going to enjoy the .22 bpcr game. A .22 is a great start and can lead to a lot of fun and a lot of surprises.  Since you are of post retirement age you may want to look into putting a scope of your rifle.  Something else to look into while awaiting your new arrival is what all brands of ammo are available to you locally. It wouldn't hurt to pick up a box each kind of standard velocity  ammo you can find and then look online for some of the better grade of ammo and pick up some of that. The .22 can be a bit on the picky side as to what shoots best in it.   
I have a single shot .22 built on a martini action. I was very surprised to see how well it shot with good ammo. I never considered it a target grade rifle, it was my squirrel gun. To my surprise I shot groups under an inch at 100 yds with good ammo, and about 3" at 200. 
You will definitely enjoy shooting the steel animals.
