We practiced offhand on the club match steel 200 yard swingers yesterday. It’s  about 10 MOA high and average performance all 5 shooters around 7 MOA. That leaves 1 1/2 moa room top and bottom of the target. Offhand iron sight 32/40 38/55 & 45/70. All use 4227.

39 degree day raising to 49 by noon . From the notebook sight differences range about  4 MOA change with ambient temperature change 50-60 degrees. I use 47 as base zero.

Started 9 am using 49 MOA, reduced it to 48 MOA as the day warmed.  strikes nicely centered on the painted plate. Other 4 shooters rarely change sight settings . Painted plate told the story. All their strikes first 10 shot relay bottom half of the Plate . Through the spotting scope saw a lot of low misses. Guys finally adjusted sights and increased hit rate. One adjust with his hold point and picked up strikes that way.

Centered up corrected for Temperature increases your chance of hits. 3 moa wiggle room nice to have. Notebook  paid off again.

Steels with limited match sighters not paper. A unlimited paper sighter target helps significantly. Still knowing what your gun does different temperatures worthwhile.
