C. Sharps SST to DST
Sep 18th, 2022 at 9:41am
Print Post
I am wanting to swap out my single set trigger in my C. Sharps 1885 for a double set trigger system and have a few questions.
1.) What are the parts needed to do this since I’m sure some of the single set parts can be used?
2.) What would be a ballpark figure for a gunsmith to do this?
3.) Would anyone want to swap out their DST part for my SST parts?

Before everyone gets on here and says why don’t I just call C. Sharps and have them answer these questions, well I work thru the week and its hard to find the time during normal work hours to ask these questions. Just easier here to get an idea. Thanks in advance.

KA.

C Sharps does not offer a double set trigger so no use to call them. MVA has the parts and can give you a price on what you need. Finding a smith to do it is another question.

I've built close to 100 hi walls from casting sets & the only thing is the two screws that retain your present trigger assembly to frame. Also you will need to change sear & possibly remove a little wood from inside the stock for clearance. Sorry.

I meant to say the screws are the only thing you reuse.

So, C. Sharps offers a 1885 highwall action only with DST but they will not sell parts for it?????

They do on other models, but not the 1885 model.

C Sharps runs a custom shop. Email them with the question about installing the DST. Worth a try and please give us the reply as I and others would like to have a C Sharps Highwall with the DST’s.

You are not alone in this quest.  I too looked into converting my single set trigger,  but no joy.  I found out that the C Sharp's Highwall is built to slightly different standard.  That means regular highwall parts will not interchange.  I talked with some well respected highwall gunsmiths about the project and darn near all said it's cheaper to go buy an original high high wall and convert it to double sets using MVA parts.

I called them several years ago about seeing if they could make a DST highwall.  They had absolutely no interest in doing that.  They said it wouldn't be worth the effort because they thought it would be an unpopular option.

Chris.

Yes, you'll need a hammer with a fly.

If he has a single set trigger the hammer should have a fly.
