BSA Martini-Henry 22 target rifle

I am trying to find out if this rifle could be re-barreled to a 357 mag. I would have to have the breech block welded and drilled for a prober firing pin. It would be used as a short range deer rifle. The rifle is not in pristine condition.

A lot of these have been converted to CF and 357 was a common choice. You can save a step (converting from RF to CF) by starting with one of the Australian Cadet actions. There are a lot of them out there and many are already customized and in 357 Mag.

I've got a .310 in center fire, might be Hornet.  Save you a bit of work.  P.M. me.  David

As a less be expensive way to convert to 38 special / 357 mag, consider having JES rebore it.

Thanks for the replies. As I stated the rifle was in far from pristine condition. I already have a 35 cal barrel and the back of the action was machined for a sliding peep sight. I traced a friends receiver and ground mine to the same shape. I am going to send the barrel out to be chambered . I will weld up the rimfire firing pin hole and drill the centerfire hole. I just wasn't sure if the rimfire version would hold up to the 357 mag. or 357 Max.
