Alloy Suggestions for BPC

Due to cost of travel I’m considering going back to shooting BPC more or less locally after a long delay. I plan to reactivate an original high wall that is a modern rebarrel to 45-70, which has sat pretty much neglected for a couple of decades.  So for all intents and purposes, I’m starting fresh with casting and loading for it.

My first question concerns bullet alloy.  I have all the necessary components for about any alloy needed but would like to use one of my standards I keep mixed.  I’ll toss out my pistol mix (COWW + 2% tin) as too hard, but am wondering whether my pure lead I use for muzzle loaders or the 25-1 pure lead and tin I use for Schuetzen would be more appropriate(?)

Once I have cast a good test supply of bullets I’m sure I’ll have questions about loadings.  Any and all shared experience will be appreciated and seriously considered.  As usual, thanks in advance.

Green Frog,
I would not automatically toss out" your pistol alloy of COWW+2%tin.
I have had success- accuracy with my BPC rifles with my
old favorite all purpose alloy of 90% COWW plus 10% of  Lino.
Just need to make sure the bullet designs you use will have
at least the base band at or 0.001 larger than your Fire formed case neck I.D.  and or freebore if present

A lot is going to depend on the bullet your shooting. Some shooters still cling to 30-1, others have found 20-1 to give better results and still others are using 16-1. 20-1 and 16-1 being preferred for the "long pointed" bullets such as the original postel, or the modern version of the Medford bullet now called the money bullet.
As Arnie said don't throw your hard ball alloy, you can cut it 9 lbs with 1 lb of the pure lead and get a good alloy, IF the hardball as is isn't working for you.
