Mine was phenomenally accurate with the 457124 and 12g unique.  My friend now owns the gun and shoots the same load. 2 inch groups at 100 yd were not very hard . The only thing we did was added a detent under the set screw where where the latch went to the locking pivot as it kept loosening up and the action would automatically open.

I've had several of the H&R TD's. Sill have an Officer's Model and a Calvary Carbine.  Never had any issues with them.  My loads were always with BH209 and a 345 gr slug.  The load was good past 200 yds. and not too much recoil.
I had the Officer's Model fitted with a Lee Shaver Soule rear sight and Lyman 17A on the front; makes a very good target rifle.
I put a "dab" of Loc-Tite on the latch screw just to avoid any looseness there.
Mike.

I also have an H&R Officers Mdl, have found the old 2400 load with cotton (18gr) and a 441 Ohaus bullet is very accurate.  However, I have switched to a Lyman 457191, 293 gr bullet with 12gr Unique as it shoots very accurately and is a milder recoil.  Put a Lee Shaver rear sight on it as the original tang is very finicky to adjust.
