Well this rifle came up for sale from a local fellow that I shoot with and I could not say no.I had just sold my roller in 40/50 ss thinking I was going to get out of this shooting ... then temptation sucked me back in. He sends me a picture like a centrefold pin up girl with the color case hardened action open and its double set triggers just hanging there. 
It is wearing a nice tang sight and matching globe .

Now I am not a stranger to BPCR and owned many in my time but never one in 40/65. I have a bag of starline brass and two moulds in 40 cal ..but I see that there is a lot of talk about dies.

I have yet to find any dies for sale ..anywhere and would prefer buying anything that is not a arm, leg, and first child in price.
What mfg of dies work for this chamber ?  he was using dies that he has for his two Shilohs  (RCBS) said Shiloh on the case 408.
What other brands will work?

I would not have a problem with the first child part; it's the body parts that would hang me up!

Yes, the Shilohs use a .408" bullet.  I found that out the hard way, about thirty years ago.

My Cody Ballard prefers a .410 diameter, 410 grain Paul Jones bullet.

I've got a couple of Shilohs in .40-65.  I use the RCBS dies made specifically for them as they size the base a little more which fits that chamber better.  I imagine that won't apply to a Cody rifle though. 

For bullets in mine I use 0.409" diameter Money bullets for a perfect slip fit.  Both rifles are super accurate with that 409400M3 bullet, or the Saeco #740.   

I would check the chamber for length to make sure it will work well with that brass.  I've heard that the Starline .40-65 brass is usually on the short side.  I make mine from Remington .45-70 brass.

Oh one more thing...  Is it a Ron Long chamber?  If so it will be different than a normal .40-65.

I have a couple Cody Ballards in 40-65.  Both take a 0.409 slug (0.408 grove).  Starline brass works perfectly. I also had some 45-70 brass re-sized to 40-65 that didn’t give any problems. My Shiloh Sharps, on the other hand, is very picky.
I use RCBS Cowboy reloading dies. No issues.

If a Ron Long chamber you must only use Remington brass.
