This .40 is on a win. HiWall (thick wall) coil spring action w/ Ben Rice D.S. triggers built circa 1995. The bbl. is a Ron Pence cut-rifled 7 groove 1 in 18” twist, #4 wt. 32””long. Wood is factory Win. Usually shoot it with Ideal #40392-295 grn. over 20.0 grns.of #4227.
When I could still see iron sights, this Mike Stevens special wind gauge vernier tang sight worked great for me.
W/ scope it is right on 14 lbs. & is one fine shooter.
The target in the pix here was from a match at the old
Aurora, Il. Club. It was shot @100 yds. off cross- sticks & was scored as 100x w/8 centers. All the guys I knew who used to shoot cross-sticks now require assistance to get back up on their feet so they now just shoot .40 cal. @ 200 yd. benchrest!

Sir,

You certainly have some beautiful rifles!

This one is my favorite so far. I admit to a soft spot for Highwalls.

Thank you for the great pictures!

Breech seated 1/16” ,usually w/ a floral foam wad down on the powder these days .More to keep me from spilling powder down in the action than any result on the target !

Hairtrigger,

Sorry for the late response, but I to was a member in the original Aurora Club.

Your rifle looks in excellent shape and the group you posted was also excellent; and though common sense seem to have it figured out any issues you may have had.

I have also shot Ron Pence barrels in Benchrest Competition, they along with the rifles have been sold at this point.

Take care.

Totally agree and simplicity at its finest for both use and looks..
