An inexpensive pipe clamp makes a simple way to make a bench scope mount also. Just cut pipe to length and weld in tubing the diameter needed to fit the spotting scope's clamp.
I made one to fit my scope when shooting off our solid concrete benches. It was $9 at Harbor Freight, minus the piece of 3/4" pipe.

Very much like JLouis' example mounted on a bench at Modesto.

My scope is very old late 50's or early 60's Kowa 25x. When I contacted Kowa to ask about a higher magnification eyepiece they told me mine was the first style spotting scope they ever offered!
Still excellent optics, but stuck with 25x as nothing newer fits the scope body.
I like the 25x range. I had a Kowa 821m with 24x LER. I loved that scope. I upgraded to the Vortex Razor with 22x LER eyepiece good glass doesent need as high of magnification.

I just recently picked up a Celestron M2 65ED with a 16-48x eyepiece. I got it on eBay where it was advertised in barely used condition. Luckily the seller dropped the price dramatically after the initial listing of $465. Optically it is very good and slightly better than my Bushnell Spacemaster which I thought was having serious eyepiece issues (that turned out to be a loose screw). The seller got a less than good rating as the runner coating on the main scope body was extremely tacky and dirty. A couple of hours of work with lighter fluid and a scraper removed all traces of the tacky material and I am pleased with the purchase. Now I have 3 decent scopes including an Unertl 24x63. I did pick up a $25 POS from eBay that got fairly positive reviews on some sites, but it fails miserably at 200 yds.
A few years back there was a thread on scopes and a few rated the Celestron as very good. Optically I would totally agree.
Now I have scopes for most of my tripods. I am not a hoarder, I swear.

I use a Kowa TSN-2 for silhouette and some other shooting on a Bogen 3051 tripod. It is very sturdy but heavy to haul around. For plinking and other shooting on my property where I can only shoot 200 yards I use a Simmons 25x50 spotting scope. It is the best cheap scope I've ever seen. I can see 22 bullet holes at 200 yards with it. It is nearly as good as my Kowa which cost many times more $$$.

Before switching to 20X binoculars I used a Celestron 65ED and thought it was great. Half the price of the standard Kowa and every bit as good a view. Still one of the best deals out there for a spotting scope.

My Kowa is so old it doesn't have any numbers on it. I sent pictures to Kowa, along with the info marked on the eyepiece, and that's the only way Kowa could identify it as their first spotting scope.
They called it a TS-1 and said it was used in the Tokyo Olympics back in 1964, but was introduced in 1952. They suggested some talented machinist could maybe build a thread adapter to fit the body, and make it accept newer eyepieces, but I never pursued that option.

I bought a new vortex razor angled scope. Im using the 22x long eye relief MOA reticle eyepiece for offhand.
I got a nee NRL 22 rig to shoot this summer. I have gone MIL on all my new scopes. I guess that meand a mil reticle eyepeice now..... still need the MOA for sillhouette.
I told my woman the tripod was for her since she would be spotting for me in 22bprc.she didnt think it was funny.
I don't understand most of that, but I do understand Tasco. I'm impressed.
You can get Reticles in your eyepeice for spotting shots on steel ( really misses)
This is the MOA reticle in my scope

Whew! kind of like looking down a really, really fast twist barrel. For me, simple is better.

Rkba2nd I do totally agree.
The more one has to look at and then have to calculate to adjust too can make it allot more harder when it can actually be very easy to do.
Good example would be the four windsocks that I use and each gives me direction and speed with just one look.
On the other hand if using daisy wheels, vains and tails you have three things to have look at for each one and now making it 12 individual things. When I only have to look at just four to make any adjustments that I might need to make. And more importantly before a condition change and then having to do it all over again 12 times again. If one can do it before the next change takes place. .

These are good points. Throwing a rock is much simpler than shooting a gun. I choose to shoot the gun, not because it simpler but because it harder. ( I stole that from Kennedy..)
Its not hard. It goes away when you are not looking at it. Think of it as a yard stick laying by the target. You dont have to have the target @ 0. You just have a scale to judge the distance by.

See, now I really am confused, even with, or because of your explanation. Obviously it works for you, so go forth.

Is that why you never leave town, John? A couple bugs on the windshield gets you all confused and you wind up in the bar ditch?
Sorry.
Couldn't help myself.

Joe can't see, hear very much anymore and I don't drive but a block away to the grocery store and just getting old.
Thank God I have Grand daughters who now help me out and five great grandchildren who get into everything that they can and a real hoot.

My Bushnell was probably made by B + L at the time and I may have just got lucky with the outstanding optics quality.
