Bitterroot Schuetzen Match

I read on the Facebook page for the Bitterroot Schuetzen Society that at last weekend's Jim Gier memorial match, our own Westerner won the iron sight 100 shot match.  Congratulations Joe!

Ah shucks, it wasn't nothin.   Embarrassed

I used BP, 250 grain flat nose .38 bullets and a Pope rear sight.  Therefore it musta been just pure luck.

Thanks guys.

Might not want to wish for what you ask for.
Joe is just as good shooting off a bench.

We only let Joe shoot with us because he brings our unofficial mascot Buddy with him.  Buddy is everyone's best friend

The wind on Sunday was crazy, sight adjustments were made in hours, not minutes.  Three target frames were broke, and multiple targets blown off the backers.  We had a great bunch of guys at the match.

Congrats to Joe

First think I noticed was the front rest setup and how simple one can be.
To me it is a real tribute to the shooters abilities!

It is quite a bit uphill at the Stars and Stripes range north of Spokane when shooting at 200 yds.  I crank my rest as high an as tilted as it will go and still need a 1x2 under the front leg.  One year a few of us tried a black powder prone side match.  It was quite the strain to get on target.

Yes Tommy always has a good selection of lumber to get the elevation you need!
I also like the carpeting he has glued to the tops of the benches.
Great shooting Joe!

Regards,
Joe

The overhanging scope on the rifle at the near bench first caught my eye. Lots of innovation going on at that match!

I was slow even before Old Age caught up with me.  But am I to understand that "Joe"/"Westerner" is actually "Wes Turner"?
