I have a CPA with a 348 barrel I've yet to shoot. It's a 24" light hunting barrel.the action is with Gail right now getting a 25 Krag barrel fit (from another 44-1/2) to the action and a new 33-40 barrel  installed.
I only have the 200g rcbs GC mold to use in the gun as I sold the three Lymans a few years back.i plan on trying it out this winter as my rifle should be back from CPA very soon.

I have a original 1885 action with a half octagon replacement barrel in .348. Recently bought a mold but have not tried it with cast yet. Does fine with jacketed.

Currently building a 1885 High Wall for a client in 338-348 Ackley Improved. It should be quite the big game rifle. The client supplied the reamers for a sizing die and the chamber. It should be interesting hearing how it shoots and if he actually hunts with it.

CBA Shooter the 33-40 simply uses a standard 32-40 case. So a 33 bullet will not fit inside of the case or a breech seater. The 33-47 on the other hand is a 32-40 case blown out to 33 and it might actually be what you want. I only bring this up as a had a 33-40 barrel from CPA that came with a rifle I bought and it was actually of no use. Other than being able to use a plugged case only and breech seated. If you actually want a 33-47 or to insure you are going to get what you want I would give Gail a call just to be on the safe side.

oneatatime - Joe Pfeifer necked down the 348 case to 270 and up about 1948, this only from dated reamer drawings by Red Elliot. My guess would be that someone somewhere, did the same even earlier in his basement reloading room. It seems as soon as a new round is announced, it immediately is necked up, down, improved etc. even then. Quite some years ago, I ran a 30-30 case into a 8.15x46 die forming a somewhat straightened, shoulderless, tapered, shortened 30 caliber case. all so that I could make use of a collection of 30 caliber moulds. Only to find that Wayne Schwartz had done similar, quicker! Seldom is there much new! But always worth the effort.

The Farrow at Wyoming Armory is a beauty!  I always wanted to have a Farrow built, but Dakota bought Dean out and has never produced any for sale by time I could afford on.

Sigh...

Know what you mean about the Farrow. A friend had one built by Miller serial number was below #3. In 38-55 with double set triggers that was to die for but not in 38-55 for me. He has since passed away and if it would have been in 32-40 I would have probably bought if his son did not want to hang onto it.

That Farrow is gorgeous.  If only it were a cartridge I have some use for...  Price is decent, but a rebarrel would put it out of my $$$$ reach.

ISS  Just to set the record straight, DaKota did not buy Dean out. They hired Cyle to fix problems with their No 10, and then proceeded to relieve him of his employment, and rights to his and his fathers actions and equipment. A less than upstanding bunch in my NSHO. I am not alone in this conclusion.

RE: Dakota; all I knew for sure was that they chose not to build either Miller design, and instead went with that butt-ugly #10.   Grin

I spent some time reading about the 348 ballistics, and I think I am going to call WYO in the morning and just buy the Farrow.  I will have an Elk tag in about four weeks when F&G releases the 2022 Sportsmans Packs for sale.
