The Miroku 1885 (Winchester and Browning) are different internally and have changed over the years. The drawing I saw a few years ago showed a pair of coil mainspring on struts pushing from the rear. They've had an ejector for some time, with an adjustable deflector at the rear of the loading trough.

The current owner's manual shows a simple, spring retracted firing pin held in place only with a vertical cross pin, and these are chambered for 243 Win and the like. I wonder how that goes when a primer fails?

The drawings at Numrich show differences between the High and Low walls. The High have an ejector assembly in the fore end and a bushed, spring retracted firing pin. The Low have no ejector and the spring retracted firing pin goes out the back of the block instead of a bushing in the front.

When I bought my Uberti Highwall, in 2007 , I called VTI Gun Parts and ordered extra springs, firing pin and some other parts I thought I might need,so at least at that time there was no problem getting spare parts.  So far, have not had to replace anything. I am very satisfied with its accuracy also, scoring as high as  248 and 249 in competition,(still chasing 150). Overall, very satisfied.

Correction: What I meant was "Still chasing 250". You knew that, right?

The OP lives in Texas. I thought all Texans carried a Sharps. I think the weight of geography and DNA should make the decision for him.  Grin

Looks like the Texas Rangers always had Winchesters (after a Henry from 1860).

I recently came into a High Wall from Wyoming Armory. A recent reproduction that feels great. It’s in 38-55 and I’ll be working up a load this spring. I’ve also got a browning high wall BPCR in 40-65. As well as several sharps rifles. You can’t go wrong either way. Start with availability, then move to functionality (do they have the weight, length, twist rates, furniture, etc that you want), then price. You can’t pick a wrong gun as long as you buy quality.
