extractor build

Building a 9 o'clock position extractor for a Hauck. Chambered and head spaced and made the required extractor cuts on the barrel and needed to cut the extractor for the case head. I put it in place  in the extractor cuts on the barrel with JB quick weld instead of solder. I made the very fine cuts with a carbide boring bore and was able to pull it of! It did not take much hand pressure to remove the extractor from the jb, which was cleaned from the extractor cuts on the barrel barrel with a knife blade.

Between J B Weld and Duck Tape what else does a guy need.  Nice solution, I'll be putting that one in the Note Book👍🏻

Yeah, but don't allow Silicone in my shop, can contaminate and adhesives will not stick.
Difficult to impossible to remove.

I have the same rule in my shop. In our ag shop I have no problem using silicone.

My experience with Silicone as a firearms lubricant has also been very negative.  Like Teflon-based sprays, it has no place around my guns or any of my metal work.

If I may put my 2c in. I have extensive experience in cleaning up silicone and teflon based lubes from fibre optic cables which are saturated with that stuff. On this side of the pond it is called a citrus cleaner. I really do not know what you call it in the US. It is available in most supermarkets locally.and it is an excellent and totally harmless cleaner, not just for silicone

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) I have finished the 9 o'clock extractor for the Hauck as pictured here at max travel. Much better than the 6 o'clock position.

That temporary long screw in the top of the breech block is used to block the hammer and retain all mainspring pressure with in the breech block for disassembly of the action. With out it in place, mainspring pressure is placed on the lever where it puts pressure on the hammer, to move it off the firing pin before the block is lowered. It puts up a bit of a fight! Here is the diagram. Picture the screw extending into the breech block behind the firing pin and the hammer resting on the screw.

Brice, Don't even like the sealants. You get it on your hands and transfers to other surfaces.
