Does anyone know if this gentleman is still producing his boxlock Wesson-style action? I'd like to find one.
I'd also like to know if it is Allen or Allan because I see it spelled both ways.

Idunno, but Steve Earle is still offering the Wesson #1 Long Range, and the Wesson Mid Range complete actions.  He also makes a few of the massive Frasers from time to time.
I have a #1 LR built into a .450-400-3.25.  Good for anything that walks or crawls on the Earth.

ISS, looking to build a long-range muzzleloading target rifle that I can actually afford, but if the Allen boxlock is no longer available, I will have to rethink things.

You might see if Pecatonica River has any on the shelf, they used to carry them.  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Also try The Gun Works in Springfield, Oregon. Joe has left for the big rendezvous in the sky, but Suzi and her staff are still hard at work.

For what it's worth, Pete's last name is spelled Allan.  I own one of his very fine duplex powder measures.

MrTipUp, thanks for clearing that up. Allan henceforth.
Tony, I e-mailed Pecatonica earlier this week and Doug said he did not think he would ever see another of the boxlock actions.
I am sorry to hear that Joe has passed. He got the better of me in more than one trade! Grin

I am of a firm belief that Joe got the better of most folks. He was a shrewd salesman, that is a certainty

I truly miss his smile  Cry

Funny how this stuff comes up!  Just had 2 of these in my shop 3 weeks ago.  A friend of a good friend was having trouble finding someone that would install the barrels.  This guys a doctor in the Minneapolis area and has had them a couple years, he got them from Pecatonica.  I don’t normally do this for other but since they are muzzleloaders decided to look at them.  Took a lot of time but that was mostly because we talked more than worked!  I didn’t know anything about them before but from what I could see they are nice, well made actions and can see why you would want to use one.

Heard from Suzi at the Gun Works. She is out and says the business has been turned over to Pete's son, who is trying to figure out how to run it.
