Will be attempting to shoot a 250 this weekend at Chris's Scheutzen match at Thurmont, MD. Will try weigh-sorted Norma Match, Federal Gold Medal Match & Center-X. Also Midas+ and X-Act. Be interesting just to see the results with the various ammo. Will shoot 10-sighters between the various makes of ammo to season the barrel with the different lube.

22 lr is as much fun as any other shooting but is more frustrating than herding cats. it boils down to an ammo chase till you find the right combo. then you hock the farm and bring home all you can.
i have shot my MK3 for years with Fed UM 1 and was fortunate to get 2 250s with it. i saw the end of that ammo so went to Lapua and got some Center x which shoots almost as good.
i was not impressed with my CPA 22 but i dont think i gave it a fair chance either, centerfire was really good in it.   dave j

Certainly no 250 for me. I shot traditional big-bore pre-lunch and got some excellent load data for my PP efforts. By the time lunch was over the 90+ temp and high humidity along with twitchy wind turned my 22RF efforts into a simple 10-shot group-test for 4 different ammo as my mind was focused on getting into the car's AC.
The wind was very twitchy and I made no effort to adjust for same. Obvious by the targets. About what I expected except the good result with Federal Gold Medal Match ammo. Sad that Federal no longer offers it as it shoots as well in my rifles as any other. Maybe now that the ammunition/shooting side of Vista Outdoors is being spun out as an independent company they will get back to being serious about their 22RF target ammo. It is really good stuff for me.

I have a 28" HVY 12# CPA and it's a very good shooting rifle, very fine rifle, that will digest most .22 ammo.
When I got this rifle I tested several different brands of Ammo that I could find here local and they all shot well at this 50 yard test. It was a little cold and a fair breeze but I wanted to see what it would do.

.22 velocity temp 38 degrees F winds 9 to 13 mph 8 O-clock full factor. CPA 28" barrel

Three STARS for CPA. This past Saturday at the Thermont Shoot the shooting Gods smiled on me. I was using a CPA with a 28" #3 Douglas barrel and Lapua Center X ammo. 100 yds. benchrest with a 32 power 2 1/2" Mitchell scope. It took me almost 30 minutes to get off the 5 shots because the winds kept my flags dancing. I wish the other 3 barrels I have for this rifle shot as well as the 22 did this past weekend.

Especially in the conditions. When AJ said it took 30 minutes to shoot the group he did extremely well calling the wind as it was all over the place from one second to the next. Very well done.
