Darr mold

Recently purchased a BW Darr Rolling Block rifle, and it's in .35-40 caliber. Along with the rifle is a Ideal .308 caliber mold, which has a Darr label attached to one handle, and has been recut to .35 caliber. The bullet in the mold measures .358" base band, with all other bands being .357". It casts a 243 gr. bullet, but unknown what the mix is on the bullet in this mold.
I understand Barry often recut old molds when making new molds for his barrels? This mold has what looks like a piece of scrap steel used to close off the nose end due to the long length of the bullet.
Hoping some here have seen some older Darr molds recut, and give input on the plate added to seal off the nose, or other comments?
The barrel is dated 12-10-75, so likely that's when the mold was also done.

Vall Barry did re-cut several bullet moulds and I used to have a few. That plate on the bottom of your mould is just a single fixed in place. Hoch used a connected swinging bottom and top plate and Barry's is just a single fixed fixed in place.
The bullet you described is also the same bullet as Barry also used in his 35-40.
Several years back I opened up a baseband on a 32-40 Darr mould for you. I could be mistaken but it might be one of those that he might have also re-cut and then stamped.
Some were name stamped and some he just inscribed his name on and he liked to use Lyman blocks.
This being long before he went to work for Saeco and was still living back east and where he started making barrels. This he started doing soon after he returned from his second tour in Vietnam. If memory serves me right he made his first barrel when he was 21. Not exactly sure when he started re-cutting Lyman moulds to also go with his barrels.

Thanks John. Not sure when Barry returned from military duty, but I thought he was born around 1948 or that period? So this rifle, barrel, and mold being Dec. 10, 1975 must have been from his early years after returning home.
The mold you opened up was a Saeco.

You are very welcome Vall and I truly do apologize for being an Ass in the past.
I truly do value our past friendship and hopefully we can now re-establish it.
