Do you know what this is....

Came in a box lot I bought at a recent auction, described as "Black Powder Lube Extruder as per Paul Matthews Design". I'd like to get more info on it - I Googled the description but only thing came up was a couple books written by Paul Matthews.

It is meant to make a ribbon of lube, to be pushed over the mouth of a case to put a "lube cookie" or "grease cookie" between the bullet and an over-powder wad. This is an especially useful practice when shooting paper-patched bullets with no grease grooves in the bullet.

I dunno what this was supposed to screw into to push the plunger, but the idea is to fill the thing up with lube and then push the plunger and it would squeeze lube out through the slot like a syringe.

If the thread is 7/8” x 14 tpi, you would put it in your loading press, unscrew the top, insert a stick of lube, reattach the top, and put a shell holder on your press ram.

A pull on the lever will squeeze a ribbon of lube out of the slot on top.

If it’s some other thread size, then you’re missing the squeezer part.  This could be a lever or a hand-screw arrangement.  If the lube was soft enough, I guess you could push the plunger rod down against a bench top.

Yea! I bought one of those a while ago. The plunger end has a "T" wrench in it to squeeze the lube out. Mine must have been made for an Orangatang as the Ribbon would be about 1/4" thick. Looked it over and decided I would make up an
insert for the product end to get a thinner Ribbon. Will need it some day. HTH,
