Anyone have any experience shooting the standard Shilen 6-groove 16" twist 22 rimfire barrel? Looking at one and wondering if I should hold out for their 'rachet-rifled' barrel.
Thanks.

I wonder how a ratchet barrel would shoot if it were installed backwards.

I had a Rimfire CPA with a Shilen Barrel and a match chamber. Not the type of barrel currently being talked about and it was amazingly extremely competitive. Once I found out what it liked the best 250's at a 100 yards were very doable if I did my part.

As if I don't have enough going on, I'm going to try and squeeze this in before my classes start in a month.  It's a little sharps with a Shilen Ratchet, 4 groove 22rf.
Glenn, do the ratchet rifling and we'll compare notes. I did go with a 1:10 twist to continue experiments with extreme yardages.
Regards,
Greg

Not saying they're outstanding, just something different that may offer some improvement???  Wink They say they clean easier, maybe seal and prevent gas blow-by in a lesser pressure case?  Grin Maybe a gimmick, been a round for quite a while.
