Win Close Coupled set triggers 1885 (Read 1294 times)

	I have a opportunity to pick up some CC triggers for an 1885. Anyone ever fitted them to a low wall receiver? Only reason I ask this is that I have a couple of low walls with standard triggers. I am aware that some other part changes such as the hammer will be required.

	I did it years ago with a single set lower tang and had no trouble. Get them if you can afford them , try it and worse case you have them to inspire a new build.

	The ccst will require the slotted long-tailed sear as well as a fly on the hammer, if it isn't already there. Sear spring may need changing as well, but I don't know- try it with the one you already have, I guess. That tang may fit well into the frame, but the joint outside will probably be proud of the small frame's surface. A good deal of filing and refinish to correct that if the appearance bothers you.

	I have a HiWall with close coupled set triggers and all though they do work just fine. I would much prefer having the double set triggers instead.

	the double set trigger would still be the same conversion situation- the double set is beyond rare for the low wall.

	Also be aware that there are 2 distinct low wall receivers. The panelled low(Winder muskets are almost exclusively this type) was is basically identical to the high wall, just cut down for easier loading.
