Uberti High Wall buttstock

Hello all, I’m a very long time lurker who has finally decided to come out of the woodwork.

I’m in Walla Walla, WA, so it seems I’m fairly close to a great many of you, and share some of the same interests.

Over the years I’ve owned a wide variety of single shot rifles, from TC Contenders and Encores to Shiloh Sharps and Husqvarna rolling blocks, with a variety in between.

Now I’m here with a question about the Uberti High Wall. On these pages I’ve read that original Winchester buttstocks will fit the Italian actions. One member here has mentioned a few times fitting a musket buttstock to a Uberti.

And yet I’ve also read that the buttstocks do not interchange. Is it simply a matter of altering an original to fit? Is there a compatibility issue that isn’t being mentioned?

I’m hoping one or three of you might comment please.

Thank you,

Otony

Welcome to the forum. You might give George a call at TreeBone Carving and get his input. Since he carves stocks for a living he probably has some input for you. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I’ve met George, he is a very nice fellow. I should have thought of him from the beginning.

I used to go to his father’s stock manufacturing business in the Santa Cruz mountains, back in California. I remember George when he was around 10 or 12 years old. His Dad had a huge collection of walnut stumps, very impressive.

Thank you,

Otony

you might want to check with Lee  Shaver or Cimmaron Firearms, who I believe is the primary importer of Uberti High Walls. Someone at the other retailers such as Taylors or buffalo Arms might be able to help you too.
good luck!

If you have a Uberti High Wall, simply try fitting an old Winchester High Wall buttstock. Very little work needed.  Old buttstocks that fit the Winchester are not that hard to come by.
