You are quite right.
Accidently wrote down the Celsius number instead of the F. temperature.

Lead melts at 621°F. Fumes are released at 900
°F. Lead can be breathed in and also settle on surfaces. Lead oxide (fumes mixed with air) forms a fine yellowish/brown dust.

JOHN:
Inasmuch as the boiling point of lead is over 3000F and that of tin over 4000F, it is very unlikely that there is an appreciable vapor pressure ("fumes") of these metals over a bullet-casting pot at casting temperatures.
What DOES happen is that oxides (which are solids) form and with sloppy house-keeping can get dispersed into the air as dusts and then be inhaled.
I have been casting bullets for maybe 60 years, and perhaps 20-25 years ago had occasion to have a blood test for lead and it was completely negative.

After my heart attack, I asked my cardiologist about my casting and he said that I should be sure to wear glasses and gloves. 'nuff said fer me! Cool

Same thing my Cardiologist said after:  5 heart attacks, a plasty, two stents, triple bypass (which finally failed after 27 years), bad heart valve, electrical blockage in the heart, arrhythmia, heart will only put out 39 beats per minute without a pacemaker, top & bottom beat in wrong pattern, heart failure and for some reason my heart keeps stopping for 7 to 11 seconds. Nope no lead in the blood - just bad genes and born with rheumatic fever plus implications of diabetes.

It's my understanding that most folks that test high for lead have come by it through handling lead and it gets ingested.  Yes, I've cast a LOT and tested for lead once or twice with nothing found.

CW I do agree. When I was still working for the School District I was Certified as an Inspector, Planner and Manager for both Asbesto and Lead. Lead issues were very few and mostly related to water piping and drinking water concerns.
