Winchester Blueing ...

I recently bought a custom Winchester High Wall. The receiver has all of its original bluing but the lower tang has been upgraded and rust-blued but it has a more satin look than the receiver.

1) How did Winchester rust-blue the later actions? Did they possibly use something closer to Colt's carbona bluing process?

2) Also, does anyone recognize this lever? It is incredibly well done but I don't think I've seen this exact style.

Sort of looks like a Winchester pistol grip Luadensauk lever re-bent to fit a straight stock. Or it too might have been available but I have never seen one prior to on a straight stock.
FBW's also made one similar they called it there International lever and it is very similar to that.

A picture of the Luadensauk lever on the rifle I once owned. Might also noticed they had a very different stock design. Might have to enlarge the picture to clearly see the lever.

To me that lever looked like a Laudensaauk that had had a tighter curl put in it.

Is that tang in  the right serial # range for a coil-spring action?

Didn't Win. change to stamped numbers when they changed to coil spring actions? Thought all those script engraved serial numbered actions were flat springs?

That lower tang is from an earlier rifle than the action. The block style letters started sometime after the turn of 1900 and when the coil spring actions came out they put a letter A at the end of the serial number. After Winchester quit using color case hardening around 1913, they went to a gas bluing or furnace bluing and I've never seen anybody that can duplicate that look.  I've seen that look on some Westley Richards though so they must have been using a very similar method. Around 1938, Winchester went to hot dip bluing. That receiver is a great example of one that has not had the bluing flake off which was so common with those Winchester's done in the furnaces.
What is the extra pin for? Is it a takedown barrel, some special extractor?
