Is the Schuetzen model the only one that actually had a cheek rest on original 1874 model Sharps rifles?

Thank you,
Charles

I am far from being a noted authority on the 1874 Sharps, but according to Seller's book, the only mention I saw of rifles with cheekpieces were the German or "Schuetzen" style rifles.

I guess that's important if you're trying to determine the authenticity of an old rifle.  I sure wouldn't let it affect my decision if ordering a new rifle.  It's your rifle, get what pleases you.  Life is too darn short not to!

Ya know, sometimes I have attitude that just can't be disguised.  Then, I might even jump to conclusions.

Let me be the first to correct me.

On page 239 of Seller's book, there is a Model 1874 Sporting Rifle listed with "unusual features" including a cheekpiece.

One of these days, I'll get something right,
