Chuck. Here is the Hauck; a lot like your action. I can bring a flat spring off for-end hanger screw #27 and have it contact the breech block in some way and accomplish positioning for loading. De Haas saw this lack as a weakness in the Hauck!

gwahir,  Don't really have an answer. Just have to try and see what will work Those pin and slot linkages can get complex.
Might look at a spring ball detent, although did not work for me.
