  That's beautiful work Chuck!
Someone like you needs to design us a falling block benchrest action that will take a Jewell trigger Wink Wink. It doesn't matter what it looks like. Smiley

Makes one wonder how hard it would be to convert a FBW's ModelJ to use a Jewell trigger? Probably one of the best and simplistic actions to be made and they already had a nice trigger that could easily be improved on with a little stoning and also very easy to adjust for the price. Last ones we bought from Leo a few years back were still only 400.00ea. and already blued.

A most interesting post! Thank you, Chuck.
Trigger.. I like the double set. Did you make this one? I made up the double set triggers for my Hauck so am  aware of space limitations that you faced.

If there is a will there is always a way and if anyone has the talent to do it. It would probably be someone as talented as Steve Durren and I am in no way that same type of talented individual myself.

Looks good Chuck.

You know, when you make something, you should make two. One for me and one for you.  I like those double sets.

Chuck, when you harden the action, do you make the block and the receiver the same hardness?

Good question. Receiver and breech block made of 8620 (low carbon, alloy) steel which does not harden but casehardens well.
Parts will be color casehardened and the hardness of the case will be important.
Internal parts are casehardened with Kasenit or heat treated as required.

Getting some questions on how the action works. Picture may help.
Roller on the link cocks about 3/4. Sear catches on closing and completes cocking.

Joe it should actually be three one for you and one for me.

Very nice design and thanks for the drawing Chuck.

Chuck; most excellent drawing! The stop spring contacts the lever? The Hauck needs something like this! I am thinking!

Stop spring just contacts the lever to hold position for loading. Compress to extract. Plan "B" after Plan "A" did not work.
Plan "A" was a step on the cocking piece.

OK, Chuck. I see it now. The lever contacts the end of the spring. I had assumed it contacted the side... The Hauck has a forend hanger screw in that position which could take on added responsibility. The spring would have to contact the breech block rather than the lever (plan 'A') in this case. It would be well worth the effort. Thanks!
