Thanks for pointing it out, but I would venture to say that Mr. Beach is more satisfied that his sight is still in use, rather than dissatisfied about the spelling of his name. Nonetheless credit is due to Mr. Beach, as it is misspelled by many. I think that he would be more saddened that Stevens didn't give credit for their No. 5 combination sight. I see the same quite often with the breech of a rifle or the breech end of a rifle barrel. I would guess, that someone in the distant past misspelled his name, and the error was carried forth until someone catches the error by chance. Too, not all win a spelling bee, but manage to get along just fine.
