If the OP has a lathe and no tap, he could reproduce the barrel threads on a piece of mild steel round stock, grind, file or mill  a couple longitudinal relief grooves, deburr and caseharden the thing, and use it to chase the threads.

With a lathe, all things are possible.  Smiley

I had the option, and desire, of surface grinding the sides. that made it easy to fixture. This thing was about 3/4° out from the face and block mortise, which were about as true to each other as could be expected.
