Was at the local range yesterday and a fellow Shooter told me that John Taylor of Taylor Machine in Puyallup, WA,  closed his shop.

Does anyone know. He was my go to gunsmith.

Rumor on the forum is that he is moving to Idaho.   Can't fault him for that.   His rifling machine is said to be for sale.

John hasn't been accepting any new work as he's been packing his shop for the move back to Idaho. I wish him well, and think it's a smart move to get out of Washington State where the liberal gun laws are nuts.

It's true. I live 10 minutes from him. Spoke to him in person last week. Idaho bound. He told me it will be awhile before he is back up and running. Sad to see him go..but totally understand his reasoning.

I was sad when he moved to Puyallup! When he was farther south in Wa. it was a quick drive to his shop! Now it's pretty much not in the cards to drive at all. But still glad for him to be in a gun friendly state.

Has he said where in Idaho?   Not that it matters to me, it'd still be a four day trip each way, but it might matter to #westerner#.

Is there anything new on John? Does anyone know just where he's moving to and maybe a phone number?
I need him bad.

I've got two old singles I need John's help with, and I may break down and make the 5.5 hr. drive to his new shop to have them worked on.
I'm not sure I'll save over shipping costs, but I'm afraid of chancing either gun being damaged, or stolen in shipping. So for peace of mind I might just decide it's better to take them than worry, or lose either.

I'm moving a bit slower after having Covid. Must be that long term thing they talk about. Didn't take long to get backed up with work again.

Marlin guy 5 hours well worth it. May do a trade next week & the gun is 400 miles away. 800 round trip and they are East Coast miles.

Cup of coffee, podcast to listen to, take a nap when needed. Better than staying home & raking leaves
