Oh I plan to. I'm going to try to get out to the range with the Sharps and the Trapdoor within the next few days.

Congratulations on your purchase of the rifle.  I once owned a Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Competition rifle in 45-70 and shot Creedmoor matches with it.  It was a very accurate rifle.   Enjoy your new gun.

Thanks Bill, I plan on enjoying it if I can ever get my body off of this third shift schedule so I can go shoot when it's daylight.

I'm a month late, but thought it may be worth weighing in on the subject. A Pedersoli Sharps 40-65 Silhouette rifle followed me home a while back and I couldn't be much happier with it. Its look reminds me of Shiloh's Montana Roughrider. There's nothing fancy about it, but the fit and finish lies just inside what I'd call excellent. The function is very crisp and, odd for me, there's nothing there to tune or modify. Seems to have a good barrel on it.

This is the only photo I have of it. Taken several weeks ago when I was doing a woods walk thing to see how it might work for deer hunting. The target was about 70 yards downhill and the shot taken kneeling with cross sticks. The bullet used was cast from one of the old Winchester molds (pat. 1884, I think weighing 265 grains) over 62 grains of 2F black and the usual assortment of card wads, grease cookie, and so forth.

Have you gotten a chance to shoot your new rifle yet?

I like your new rifle. Sometimes plain wood with nice lines are just as beautiful as one with fancy wood and a pewter nose cap. Looks like it's a shooter just as well.

Currently looking at (2) Sharps reproductions one was imported by Armsport(???) and looks like the Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Sporting and the other is a Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Infantry rifle. Both are 45-70, and look to be in good condition. The Armsport gun has the double triggers which I have never shot before.

Anyone here familiar with Armsport and/or these (2) models?

I am looking to add a Sharps to my 45-70 single shot collection..

Thanks Retreever

I have a Shiloh Sharps. Always wanted one. I like it okay. Had it rebored and installed a good MVA LR Soule.

My dad had a Pedersoli Sharps and while the build quality didn't compare to the Shiloh, it was an accurate dependable rifle.

Many years ago I had an Armsport Sharps, found the front of the action and the centerline of the bore were not square to each other. Too costly to fix, this rifle went on a table at the Pomona Gun Show during the "Quigley Down Under" rush for everyone to have a Sharps. Zeroed at one hundred yards, the bullet path was good enough for deer hunting. But the misalignment meant the windage needed cranked every hundred years beyond to compensate.

Today my son and I each own a Shiloh Sharps and they are possibly the most accurate rifles we own.

Hi All, so I was successful in bidding on the (2) Sharps reproductions and got them both for very reasonable prices, al least from my perspective.

The first of them arrived today courtesy of Canada Post, this one is a Pedersoli reproduction that call 1874 Sharps Infantry Rifle (.45-70). It has the flip up front sight and a vernier rear sight that has seen better days. It came in the original box and as far as I can tell it has been fired very little. Here are some pics.

Had a buddy who probably had about 8 Sharp's rifles. Loved his Pedersoli's. had one of the Farmingdale Sharps and was less than enthusastic about the accuracy. I finally bought a Sharps 1874 infantry rifle at a decent price. Your's looks to have had some improvements. Front sight and tang sight. Mine has the issue front sight and ladder rear sight. I'm hoping it should shoot better than my Ruger #1 in 45/70. Good excuse to go Accurate molds and order a couple molds in 45 caliber. And maybe sneak a 44 cal mold for my 44 specials. Good luck with your Sharps. These two makes it three now?. Frank

Hi Frank, the inventory to date is the (2) Sharps (Pedersoli Infantry rifle repro and Armsport Sporting Rifle repro) plus Remington Rolling Block(Pedersoli repro) Winchester High Wall (Uberti repro) and 1884 Springfield Trapdoor (original) all in 45-70.

Also recently purchased a J Stevens Marksman that at some point was re-barreled for .22 K-Hornet and a Chiappa Winchester 1892 repro chambered for .45LC.

Settling in for a winter of casting and reloading in preparation for the Spring Grin

Roger, looks like you are going to be busy casting a bunch of 45/70 bullets. Have fun. Frank

The Armsport Sharps reproduction rifle arrived today, not anywhere near as nice condition as the Pedersoli but I knew that and got it for a very good price.

It comes with the double set trigger configuration which I have never had before. The rear sight is also unusual , it's a flip up open sight with elevation adjustment (see pic). Also it appears to have some sort of a safety mechanism on the hammer which I had not seen till now.

The barrel is mottled brown so I'm assuming the bluing was worn off or removed in some fashion but the bore is bright and rifling looks good

Overall I'm pleased but final verdict will have to wait till I get to shoot it.

Any comments or feedback on the oddities I noted would be appreciated.
