Would someone consider putting a "sticky" in the appropriate category for the Poole Tool?

Jerry Cleave the schuetzenmeister from Central Sierra Schuetzen makes a copy of the Pool tool. To the casual eye they look just like a Pope tool. They are great quality.

40 Rod

Just received my Cleave tool today, and as usual it's the perfection Jerry always does! Mine is set up for 5 calibers, and has shell holders, rods with sleeves and knurled decapping pin guides for all sizes. Plus large and small primer rods, and large and small primer pocket tools in each handle.
A true work of gun art, and serial numbered. Calibers for mine are .45-70, .40-63 Ballard, .38-55 Ballard, .32-40 Ballard, and .25-20 WCF. I can mix shell holders, and rod sleeves to do a number of other calibers also.

I connected with Jerry a while back asking about getting one of these tools.  At the time he was stuck trying to find a foundry so new orders were on hold. When he did find a foundry I put in my order and he is up a running and one of the nicest people I’ve ever dealt with. The quality is as good as it gets but the big surprise for me was how well it seats primers. I have three different hand priming tools from a simple Lee to top of the line but none, I mean none,  seat with better feel than his.

Jerry was kind enough to fix my Jake Simmons re-de-capper years ago. After the decapping pin was too messed up to save, he built a whole new decapping rod from a Pool-Cleave tool, and fitted it to my Simmons tool.
Shortly after I had Jerry build me a breech seating tool for my Hepburn Match B in .32-40 B&M, and it too was a fine piece.
There's not many people who are as nice as Jerry, and do the quality work he does too!

Val - that is a very nice looking piece of work. What does Jerry get for a single cartridge model? Can you post his contact info?

I can post Jerry's contact info, if he says it's OK. But I wont post it unless he tells me it's OK, and wont post pricing, as that's Jerry's to do or not.

But Jerry's email is gcleave@ymail.com

He's on this forum, but don't recall his user name here?

I spoke with Jerry Cleave (my Schuetzenmeister) and he is fine with me posting his phone number here. 559-338-2357. That's a CA number so please call during the appropriate hours. Leave a message if there's no answer and he will return your call.

He goes by Slowshooter here on the forum, but his phone is the best way to contact him.

All pricing will be discussed when you talk with him. As far as I'm concerned his pricing is a true bargain for the quality of the product that you will receive.

I'll second JerryH on the quality of Jerry Cleave's work, and the price being well worth the quality. As you can see from my pictures, (even not great pictures) his work is flawless.
I've been using the heck out of this tool lately getting a bunch of cases ready for a shoot in the near future. It's a joy to use, and very quick to change calibers with the sleeves, and knurled guides!

OK, I was working my way through these posts, I saw this one and a question occurred to me.  The design of the re- and de- being made by Jerry looks so similar to the one that Jake Simmons made, is it possible that the same shell holders work on both tools?

One of the things I never got around to doing at Etna Green while I was sitting on Jake's tailgate and solving all the World's problems was complete my assortment of shell holders... I still need one for 32-20 and one for 25-20 SS.  Is interchangeability too much to hope for??

My bet is they're different, or at least slightly different, and wont interchange. I sent my Simmons re-decapper to Jerry because the decapping pin was busted off, and knurled ring on the rod was gone. Jerry made me up a whole new rod and pin as he said his and his uncle Charlie's were different than Jake's.
Doesn't mean the shellholder is different too, but odds are it is. But Jerry make be able to make more shellholders if he has the tools to make them fit your Simmons body? You should contact Jerry and ask.

In all honesty Jerry Cleaves cannot be compared with a Simmons it is quite superior and not close to being the same as Simmons for comparison sake.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.  Unless the shell holder head is close enough to the same size that it would fit or perhaps could just be altered slightly (rethreaded, etc) it wouldn't be worthwhile to have Jerry start to make one from scratch... I could get that done here.  I was just hoping (perhaps vainly) that I could avoid that necessity.

I was for a short period of time making shell holder conversions for the Simmons Tool. They would also take both small and large rifle primers with the inserts provided. Also something that one can actually make for themselves and I am no longer making anymore to sell.

I have both Jerry's and Jake's tools and they are different.

For what it is worth, Jerry's tools are excellent, wonderful craftsmanship.  Also Jerry is a great guy to do business with.  He made a tool for me to cap/decap 450/400 3 1/4" BPE and 9.3x72R, neither or which are run of the mill single shot cartridges.  His tool works wonderfully.

I just received one of Jerry's tools today. It's for 32-40, 38-55 and 40-63 Ballard. The workmanship is superb and the tool fits comfortably in my hand. More comfortable than a Simmons.

Just hung up the phone with Jerry a few minutes ago.  He and Tibbie (wife) are well.  I ordered mine for 32-20 CPA, and an extra conversion for my factory HiWall 38-55 last month.  He thinks for Christmas.  I ordered a CPA from Gail about the same time, and she told me the same thing.  My Christmas tree will have two really nice packages underneath it, one large, one small.

The year will finish off strong...
