In all honesty Jerry Cleaves cannot be compared with a Simmons it is quite superior and not close to being the same as Simmons for comparison sake.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.  Unless the shell holder head is close enough to the same size that it would fit or perhaps could just be altered slightly (rethreaded, etc) it wouldn't be worthwhile to have Jerry start to make one from scratch... I could get that done here.  I was just hoping (perhaps vainly) that I could avoid that necessity.

I was for a short period of time making shell holder conversions for the Simmons Tool. They would also take both small and large rifle primers with the inserts provided. Also something that one can actually make for themselves and I am no longer making anymore to sell.

I have both Jerry's and Jake's tools and they are different.

For what it is worth, Jerry's tools are excellent, wonderful craftsmanship.  Also Jerry is a great guy to do business with.  He made a tool for me to cap/decap 450/400 3 1/4" BPE and 9.3x72R, neither or which are run of the mill single shot cartridges.  His tool works wonderfully.

I just received one of Jerry's tools today. It's for 32-40, 38-55 and 40-63 Ballard. The workmanship is superb and the tool fits comfortably in my hand. More comfortable than a Simmons.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Not many that compare to the fit and finish of Jerry Cleave's tools!

Just hung up the phone with Jerry a few minutes ago.  He and Tibbie (wife) are well.  I ordered mine for 32-20 CPA, and an extra conversion for my factory HiWall 38-55 last month.  He thinks for Christmas.  I ordered a CPA from Gail about the same time, and she told me the same thing.  My Christmas tree will have two really nice packages underneath it, one large, one small.

The year will finish off strong...
