Cartoons by Barsotti ... at Niedner's expense
Aug 21st, 2020 at 9:58am
Print Post
Among Michael Petrov's items were a few drawings John Barsotti made at the expense of his friends.

John Barsotti wrote a few articles on "Pops" Niedner including Memories of Schuetzen Days by Adolph O Niedner as told to John J Barsotti (American Rifleman, March, 1950).

These matches, and especially evenings, must have been a great time.

These original drawings are now in our ASSRA Archives.

Those are neat! Sure beats the cartoonists we have around today!

Interestingly, the cover of the first Dixie Gun Works catalog - 1950 or 1951, if I remember correctly - features Ol' Turner flanked by Bull and Pop,  Barsotti's articles are always worth reading and rereading, so perhaps it's not surprising that there's considerable wickedly exact humor in  his cartoons.

Interesting...I still have an old Maynard that Niedner did and it came from Michael Petrov long ago.
