	Does anyone know if Remington used the same size block and hammer for the No.1 and No.1 1/2 Rolling Blocks or were they different sizes? Thanks, Steve

	The #1 and #1 1/2 are identical internally. Only difference is the #1 1/2 is thinner side to side on the receiver. The 1 1/2 is flat sided. So yes the block and hammer from a #1 Sporting rifle is identical to a #1 1/2 Sporting rifle. And many military blocks and hammers will fit either, but shaped different in their spurs and no shield on the spurs.

	In the sporting rifles the hammers are the same. Every #1 I ever had or had apart is cut for a set trigger fly whether the rifle was made with a set trigger or not (which doesn't affect non set trigger function). The blocks will fit between the #1 and the #1-1/2 sporters but, #1's always used linear extractors to the best of my knowledge and experience and the #1-1/2's used a rotary extractor. I'm just guessing but there are probably military blocks that could be successfully substituted if needed.

	Thanks for the information and pictures. The block is original to the gun but the hammer is off a military rifle. It works but it sure is klunkie looking. I also believe that the main spring is off a military rifle as well. I need to or would like to find an original sporting hammer and main spring. I do have an original No.1 sporting rifle and can see and field the difference when I handle both rifles. Steve

	3 things to do #1 keep an eye on ebay for a sporting hammer they show up. #2 get in touch with ken W to see if he has anything on hand (You need to *Login* or *Register* to view media files and links) .#3 there's a lot of meat on a military hammer go after it with a grinder and files you can get a nice looking hammer out of one of those big hammers Ive done it a few times. 	One other difference between the #1 and the #1 1/2 is the diameter of the barrel shank. The number `1 1/2 is smaller by quite a bit. George

	Kootne, fyi, like #1 1/2's, #5's also have rotary extractors.
