Weaver .258 mould

Bought the mould from CPA.
Finally cast 50 of "Match" quality. A pleasure with which to cast. They weighed in at 116.1 with 20:1. JSL lube.
Excellent conditions at the range this AM - 77 degrees, wind 5-10+-, sunny.
3 groups of 5. All very promising at 95 yards. .759", .500 & .172 (1 ragged hole).
This one looks like a winner to me!

Nice start.
What are your barrel and load details?

Thanks for sharing Ray I personally like the design of that bullet. It's probably the best choice currently out there for a 10 or more twist as shown below. If not having an original 120gr. MOS.

John,
As I'm sure you know, I've been searching for an original MOS 120 mould for several years to no avail. (if I had one, I would not let it out of my sight - ever!).
I've had excellent scores with both the Wayne Vietz and Barry Dar (Mos clone) moulds I have; however, I've yet to see a 250 with my .25-20CPA.
I'm a stubborn Dutchman and will never stop trying.
Initial trials with this new mould have given me new hope.

SSShooter,
.25-20WCF by Paul Shuttleworth/CPA. Douglas 10TW, "traditional" furniture, CCI BR-4 primer, 9.6gr (CAUTION - HOT!) 4100 or Ramshot Enforcer, 1/8-3/16 FF wad, very carefully prepped brass.

I think the NOE bullet mold number which I have:
260=117 or, I think renumbered : 260-120 is a copy of the original MOS mold.
Sure looks like the same as illustrated by John L
Sure casts well. I am new to the rifle, a Hoch/Douglas SS
10 twist 25-20 WCF. Need to work more with it and the bullet

Beltfed.
I've been through all the NOE (and several other) clones of the MOS 120. Fine moulds, but I've wanted/needed the original MOS 120. Couldn't get one - so, here I am.
It's been a long road and I see good times ahead.
What more can I say.
Time to get back to work.
Good Shooting!

Ray, I think the mould you have is a direct copy of the Mos mould, a few years ago a couple of friends including C Ebright wanted the Mos 25 caliber bullet, he was no longer making moulds so I sent Fred Leeth some bullets from my Mos mould, I assume Weaver is producting the same Mos copy.  Ledball

Hi Ray,

I recently took delivery of one of John's magnificent .25-35's.  The only bullet mould I had available was a Steve Brooks copy of the Mos .25.  The copy was made from bullets cast from a Mos mould.

The Weaver bullet appears to be identical to mine.

Measurements from bullets cast using 20/1 alloy from the Brooks mould are:

Length:  1"
BB       .260
No. 1   .257
No. 2   .255
No. 3   .253

It certainly appears the Weaver is a very fine copy of the Mos. I think the Brooks is another very close copy. A bit more range time is needed to see if it works better for me than the Vietz or the Darr/Mos bullets which I prefer to the Noe's I've tried. Thanks all for your commentary.

Dimensions of this noe mold are within a thou
of the dimensions of Jack Hughes' Brooks mold.

It might be hard to see the Mos has a nose band, the Brooks and Darr do not.
