Forming brass breakthrough

Have formed several calibers over the years. Some easy some hard, hardest reducing Diameter at the web, just in front of the rim.

Last summer bought a 5 ton Greenerd Ratchet arbor press. Needed a clean up daisy wheel and proper stand. Had been for sale long time, reduced to scrap price. Getting out of a garage on my trailer & into my shop no small task, weighs nearly 600 lbs. Rented engine lift worked fine.

Its a great brass former, does not need die wax which eliminates creases from excess lube . Made up a few fixtures & knock out rods.  Added a shoe to mount a 3/4 inch drill chuck, holds all sorts of small punches properly aligned. Adjustable Return spring addition works good too.

Lot of press power nice straight push is a problem solver. 25 Krag was turning excess off the cases bottom to chamber properly , slow job. Press does it fine. Making a run of 32/20 to 25/20 now.

I'd like to see it in operation. No chance of that tho...
Set up next to your South Bend lathe I see. What size is it if I may ask? I have South Bend lust.

Close but no cigar ! Its a Logan 11, bought with advise from guys on ASSRA. Was looking for a South Bend when it came up for sale near me, knew nothing about them This forum my quick reference. Clincher was the Logan (and South Bend) large spindle hole size

If anybody is thinking about Arbor presses I can give some tips on buying & set up. Have had a half ton Famco # O for some time its useful and would not want to give it up, but not as useful as the big Greenerd.

Ebay asking prices are high selling prices much lower. Pro shops mostly use hydraulics. Home shop ratchet may be better, plenty out there for sale.
