Wow is she [Lisa Tomlin]talented! But one had better be serious about an heirloom gun, she commands top prices and as well she should!

As my dad used to say, "You don't get what you don't pay for."

I got to be friends with Ken through our mutual friend Ben Shelor. Ben lived not far from Ken, so they shared a fair amount of time together off and on. Ken mentioned Lisa back then, and how good he felt she was, and over time how she'd improved dramatically. He sent me pictures of some of her work back then, and I was very impressed. Even more so when I heard she did it all the old school method of hammer and chisels!

I still remember Ken getting the Pope award he did more than one raffle rifle for the ASSRA back in the day. Most of our own personal conversations were about shooting, bullet designs, experimenting and how to go about doing load development as a competitive shooter. Ken was a very nice, open and gracious gentleman who reminded me allot of Michael Petrov who was also the same type of gentleman himself.

You're right JLouis. I remember speaking to him once on the phone to thank him for the work he did on a rifle. He was very humble and called his talent "scribbling".  "I just scribbled a little ..."

I have not seen Ken since the ealy 90s. I would not have recognized him. I thought he was the dark haired guy at the table.

Artwork crafted into the metal on a Peabody Sporting Rifle, by Ken Hurst, from the 1990's. Though never had the privilege of meeting Mr. Hurst, I did speak with him around 2010.
