Here is a cheap but effective de=capper I made years ago for 45 calibers.  It is still going strong today and I have made various similar versions for different calibers.

I am surprised no one has mentioned the Lyman 310 tool.  I have used it on everything up to 45-70 with the proper adapter.  They used to cost $16.50 complete when I was a bit younger.  Now expect to pay $50- 75 for a used set.  CT

Plenty of ideas presented for a home fabricated tool. I started bending one up yesterday and may make up another slightly more refined.

thank you for all the ideas!

Here are a couple of "slightly" more refined versions I use for 32-40 and 25-20.

Shiloh Rifles has a de-priming tool I've used for up to 50-140 cases and it doesn't require any collets etc. I take it with me to matches and use it at home all the time.

Buffalo Arms sells an SLM de-capper that should work for you. $77. I have one that I have made different rods for. It works well and I use it a lot. I tried to paste a link but couldn't do it.

Here it is.

Boys, I just use a spare de capping rod from a set of reloading dies, and punch em out with my plastic hammer. What am I missing?

I've used the same method. I've even gotten fancy and drilled a hole in a piece of round stock and soldered in a de-cap pin. What you're missing is the ease and convenience of using a more sophisticated design. Smiley

"Sophisticated" That could be my problem. I'll add it to the list.

From my original post. I bought a Frankford Arsenal hand de-capper which works "ok". But the flimsy plastic collets where a joke, so I machined up 2 aluminum bushings (collets), one for .45 cases and one for .50 cal. I did not slot them and they center the pin perfectly. Wow the gadget works beautifully now and is fast. Next will be .40
I did bend one up as shown by a few members, but this modified Chinese gizmo works way better.....now.

Skalkaho-  Brilliant idea, and is actually a re and decapper.I still use the old Lee priming tool for certain applications and now have a new use. I have most all of the shell holders. Thanks for a great idea brought to fruition.  Krag

RKBA2ND. Nope actually saw this a couple years back on some post and copied the pics. I have one with a 222 shell holder....If you have an extra  357 mag shell holder or 32-40, I'd gladly buy it( or trade 222 ). Pete
