I like 32-20 about as much as 38 Special, and I really like 38 Special. Recently, I've been using 5 grains of Winchester WSF powder, which is similar to Unique, with a 115 grain 3118 bullet. I use this load in my Colt pistol with small rifle primers, I've never used it in a rifle.

I am also very partial to full, or nearly full, cases when using any smokless powders.

I too am very partial to full or nearly full rifle cases, which sometimes causes me to prefer BP loads for shorter range (100M or so max) hunting loads, especially for small game.

Sure, when shooting paper or metallic silhouetts, one can acheive reproducable position of powder in case, leading to smaller groups. No problem. But who wants to wave their gun around before trying to carefully place bullet on tasty small game?? Great way to have critters left to hunt some later time.

Butch,
My preferred powders for 32-20 are Alliant 2400 and RL7, with a small rifle primer (CCI400 or Rem 6 1/2). I assume your 32-20 barrel is original and probably has a 1:20 twist.  If correct, you will probably have best results with a 85-115 grain bullet with a flat nose, which means a shorter bullet suitable for the slow twist rate.  I only have one 32-20 with a 1:20 twist (Marlin 1894CL) and the two best results I have achieved were a 100 grain Hornady XTP over 14.3 grain of RL7  (1 1/2" @ 100yd), and a 115 grain RN/FP-GC (Montana) over 9.5 grains of 2400 (2" @ 100yd).  Have fun finding what works best for your rifle!
