	I have one just like that, it was burned in the fire at our place last November and i found it in the ashes, along with the front mount.The scope itself was completely gone.I'm bathing it in penetrating oil to try and take it apart so I can save it.I have a perfect scope I found at the Denver show, if I can save the mounts they will go on without mounts my Ballard.If by chance you want to sell that mount, I'd love to know.Thanks!

	Bluesman, I know it's been discussed here a time or two, but if the commercial penetrating oil you're trying doesn't work, mix up some acetone and ATF (preferrably older Dextron but the new synthetic works almost as well)- ratio 50/50 and soak it. I've had exceptional results on fired parts. Greg

	I agree with Greg on the acetone and ATF. I use Type F fluid. I have been amazed at how well it works. Nothing else even comes close. Just be sure to cap the jar tight as the acetone tends to disappear. JerryH

	Thanks guys! I a gong into town tomorrow, will get some ATF and acetone and have at it.The mounts look OK, it's just the rain after the fire and the ash that has them frozen up. I found an old parts Unknown Soule sight int the ashes too, hope to salvage it .

	Patience is your friend. Let them soak (submerged) for two to three weeks. Sometimes a little heat from a heat gun or blow dryer can't hurt either. Remember, patience is your friend. JerryH

	two other thing that work well are evorust. I have used this on rusted parts and after a day or so the stuck screws came right out. electrolysis also works well. lots on youtube about both. I have read that evorust in a ultrasonic cleaner will speed things up I have not tried it. Ken

	To clean the sight up - put it in a rotary tumbler with Strat-O-Sheen burnishing solution and plastic ceramic media. Will clean it up nicely. These parts were in salt water from Sandy and now look like new (You need to *Login* or *Register* to view media files and links)

	Thanks to all for the info, I'm always amazed at the collective wisdom of this forum.One way or the other I will get these parts salvaged. That fire erased darn near my whole town, but we're working on re- building. Looks very different with most of the timber gone, but there will be a lot less to burn!
