I wanted a Lyman STS at least 15 power for my Martini.  Found a 25 power, but it came attached to a Sako Single Shot Bolt Action, Huh.  Got my scope, now what to do with the Canoe Paddle!  David

Hey Greg,
It has been a wet Spring so I may need a Canoe, got the Paddle!
It is a .222 Rem Mag.  From what I am finding out Sako made some Single Shot Actions without any Magazine Cutout.  This is one, a rather odd Duck.  The Dark Side is calling, just ordered some Brass.

I've had that experience.  Bought what a guy said was a Lo-Wall in .219 Zipper Improved because I wanted the Redfield 3200 on it for another rifle.  Never really looked at the rifle.  Figured I'd part it out because no one in his right mind would chamber a Lo-Wall for that cartridge.

Got it home and took a good look at it.  it wasn't a Lo-Wall, it was a Hi-Wall and an older one at that (serial number in the 27xx range).  Barrel is stamped J.W. Van Patten.  Shoots fairly consistent 1/2 inch groups off a bench if I do what I'm supposed to do.

Had to find another scope for the rifle I had intended to put the Redfield on.

Such is life.

Once you have determined if it has accuracy potential, and all that I have had were extremely accurate, you might consider Norma 204 Ruger brass and just run a tapered expander through the neck and you will have very good, long life brass.

J.W. Van Patten was a gunsmith up in New Milford or Milford Pennsylvania who specialized in reboring barrels. Long gone now. Saw a few of his rebores in a gun shop on Long Island NY. Looked better than a lot of factory production barrels. Frank

Got the Scope on the Martini and ran a few rounds through the rifle yesterday.  Blocks are 13" on center.  The Rifle shows potential!  Now to find a Scope for the Canoe Paddle!  David
