I made all of the parts from the ASSRA prints. I don't know how close that puts them to the originals, but I hope they will be interchangeable. If not, it should be fairly easy to make the necessary modifications. I used standard v-threads for the barrel portion and easy to obtain taps, etc. for the other threads. If need be, I suppose I could make those original sizes at a later date.
I won't know about the hand-fitting completely, until I get all the parts done, but so far, I have had to broach out corners where radii are left from end-mills, and that's about it. I will be making necessary corrections on later actions, and hopefully hand fitting will be minimized.
Now that the programs and fixtures are ironed out, it should be much easier to make additional parts.
I would like to be able to make parts to fit originals, but I don't have an original action (yet), and at this point, I am just getting all this ironed out.

Great project and thanks for posting - very inspiring.

I may have missed this, but what alloy are you using?

Neat?  Question, I can see how the mill carves out the
part from the parent block of steel but how do you sever the part from the substrate?  Bandsaw?

Thanks, John

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Extremely neat work! Amazing what you accomplish with the CNC and drawings!

Yes, I use a saw to cut the part from the stock. I program a path to go around the profile deep enough to leave room for the saw blade.
