That's a mighty fine looking rifle!  I eat lots of large game animals every year but miss my favorite rabbit.  The extended drought has really raised cane with the population.  Tom

slightly off topic, but the most fun I have ever had with a rifle was a little browning semi auto take down with open sights in 22 short. Was set up on a rabbit warren just off the Darling Annabranch River in NSW Australia trying to shoot the rabbits as they popped up from the warren. never hit one  but it was a heck of a lot of fun!

So can relate to the pleasure of the the CB cap Low Wall

We have to hunt rabbit using shotguns here. Phooey!
But, I used my ol' .22 low wall to shoot (sometimes hitting) prairie dogs. Lotta fun. Not as fabulous as another poster's fabulous safari with his single shot at extended range.
By the by, that's a sweet looking rabbit and a damn nice Winchester. Thanks for the post.

Looks to be a very beautiful rifle and lots of fun to shoot.
I built a Remington #4, 22 LR for my grandson and he really enjoys using it.

My how the times growing up here have changed. Cotton Tail rabbits used be quite plentiful out on Grandpa's ranch and a 22 was the perfect rifle for putting them onto the dinner table. Now you don't see any or even any jack's  ranchers now farm every square inch of land and there just isn't any more natural habitat around. For jack rabbits my brother still holds the family record of shooting 34 in a day with his Winchester single shot 22. Sounds like allot but it really was not and just a slight thinning of the current population living on the ranch at the time.

I've never been to Africa, never will either. My 2 most exciting hunts were for a rogue skunk in the weeds and a charging woodchuck. High adrenaline tense action, both fell to my favorite woods loafing rifle a marlin #2 in .32 caliber.

I’ve gotten lazy in my old age, so I have been shooting a German singleshot in 22 short out the back door to a target set up in a corn field. The closed neighbors are 200 yards away, I doubt they can hear the CCI target shorts. As a boy growing up in Missouri in the 50s, I spent many a day in the squirrel woods. Didn’t hunt cotton tails until after a freeze or two.
