Aha, glad I did it right! I am afraid since I fixed mine the word will sneak around that I am a "Unertl Expert" which I surely am NOT!

Really not that hard to do its seeing the replacements that is the real hard part and then not cutting them once they are in place when tightening the screws just a wee bit to much. The weight of the clamped on hemostats simply hanging on both ends is more than enough to keep them tensioned and straight.

You don't need to pay dues.  Watch your mail box and return promptly.  Everything will be fine  Shocked

Yep I do agree and my practice session was just simply a one time outing BobZ and in my own way of thinking the etched glass approach would be by far the better way to go. The reason I say that is I would much prefer to just have a 1/16 inch floating dot minus any cross wires. I already have a level mounted to the scope tube to recognize any unwanted canting and by already having used a dot but also a bit big. The dot clearly represents where the bullet hole should be if one calls and reads conditions right. The addition of having the cross wires just adds to the confusion of trying to get the sight picture and the exact hold off point just right. In more simple terms place the unobstructed dot where you want the bullet hole to be on the target!

I have to replace the cross hairs on a Unertl small game scope. I've looked at OldRacer's picture at the top and see that he pulled the cell out of the scope tube. Does anybody know how hard it is to get that cell back into the scope tube and lined up with the screw holes. I'd send him a p.m. but he hasn't been on line for about a year. Thanks

Not hard to get the tube back in the scews lined up. Its seeing the wire that is a problem with my bad eyes. I picked up the .0002 tungsten wire and it is the equivalent of fine. Also a good idea to dunk the cell into some acetone before you put the tube back in. One spec of dust on any of the wires and will look like a boulder is hanging on them.

I sell .001, .0015, and , .0007.
I recommend (JMO) the smaller for 20x and above.
the .001 is a nice size for below 15x to 10x
the .0015 is for someone who wants heavier in a lower power.
John I have not seen that small and I assume you must have a 20x plus scope its in?

I bought some .001" wire from you a couple of years ago and did a Fecker. It has the 4 screws right on the end of the tube and wasn't to bad other than handling the wire. Hoping for some advice on lining up the cell when putting it back in. Smiley

Not sure on a fecker, I’ve never pulled one apart. Unertls are simple. Line cell up close before pushing in so screws are visible in tightening/adjustment slots. Put screws with collar in loose. Twist to get crosshairs aligned. Tighten screws.

Its a 20X Lyman STS Brice but can't see to install it anymore so going to try a .0003 etched glass replacement.

Jlouis With the etched glass reticle, how did you attach it to the cell? I would assume epoxy? And what diameter did you supply for the lens, ID or OD? Thanks in advance for a reply.  Krag
